I purchased this dump cart for the purpose of moving three cubic yards of mulch and six tons of 1.5″ river rock from my front driveway to the backyard. I’d intended to just pick up a wheelbarrow, but I spotted this guy for roughly the same price (at a big box home improvement store, where they had it pre-assembled) and thought I’d give it a try.
Nothing was going to make shoveling 6 tons of rock any easier, but being able to load the cart up and pull it into the backyard was SO much easier than trying to balance a wheelbarrow. The tires on this cart are big, so it was easy to get it across the rocky and uneven surfaces in the backyard. My yard is pretty steeply sloped, and the cart has a fairly high center of gravity, so I did have a couple of inadvertent spills, but I just needed to take more care in choosing my route.
The handle in front pulls out easily and the whole cart tips backwards to dump the load. It was uber convenient. I don’t really think I’d trust it with 600 pounds. I mean, maybe it could hold it without breaking, but I would not want to try pulling 600 pounds worth of material in it. I would estimate I put 200-300 pounds into each load, and I never had the sense it was in danger of breaking.
The material on the pull handle is a very soft, spongy material. When I was finished, the shape of it had distorted somewhat, so I’m not sure how durable that will be long term, but it was very comfortable to grip.
I’d definitely recommend the cart for landscaping tasks. Mine came pre-assembled, so I don’t know how difficult assembly would be otherwise.

I thought this product was great, until the wheel broke and fell off. This product looks and feels very sturdy, but will not carry near the rated load without the weld at the wheel hub failing, causing the wheel to separate from the wheel hub and tipping the cart and the load. Tricam, the manufacturer, customer support does not respond to email and does not return phone calls. Before purchasing this cart, or any other Tricam product, like Gorilla Ladder, you should test customer support as if you had a problem with the product in which you are interested. My internet search finds many others experiencing the wheel failure on the Gorilla Cart garden/dump carts, and lack of customer support from Tricam.

I got this item as a gift. I would not buy it for myself after putting it together. The wagon it built very flimsy. Where the bolts fasten the metal pieces to the plastic body. there is no reinforcement. After using the product I was not pleased with how flimsy it is. I’m sure that after using it for a while the screw heads will pull through the plastic body.

I recently started raising French Angora Rabbits. I have the rabbit cages set up in the old milking room in our barn. I discovered that cleaning those cages was pretty difficult because my wheelbarrow does not go through the doors from the milking room to the larger barn area, so I had to either push the wheelbarrow through the goat pasture and through the door to the outside, or carry the 30×30 litter pans to the narrower inside doors and try to tip them just right so I could empty them into the wheelbarrow parked outside the door. It was a pain either way.
So, I looked for some kind of a wheelbarrow that would go through the inside doors, and I found that this dump cart was narrow enough that I can pull it right through the doors into the rabbitry. It is exactly the right length and width to dump the rabbit droppings in, and it is very easy to move it over rough ground to my compost pile. The dumping mechanism works fine, too.
I look forward to using it while building my raised beds in the garden this spring, too. The only drawback is the sides are not quite high enough to carry as much as I might like, so I plan to build some wooden sides to extend the height another 6 inches of so on all but the rear of the cart.
I also use this cart to haul 50 pound sacks of chicken feed, goat feed and rabbit feed from the truck to the feed room in the barn. I was delightfully surprised as to how easy is is to pull around, even up a hill.
I am very happy that I purchased this dump cart.

Well, I must say that this cart has definitely lightened my work load. I was carrying cut up sod from our lawn in 5 gallon buckets to the backyard to throw away. The Gorilla cart is wonderful for this job. It holds an amazing amount of stuff. You can fill over the rim and it is so stable that it does not tip over. I am also impressed by how great the tires work when loaded down. The cart follows well when you pull it and the tires make it easy to go over uneven ground. The tipping feature is awesome. It’s nice just to release the lock and dump the stuff. My wife even liked it. She used it to move 5 bags of mulch from the car to the backyard.
Be careful not to fill it too much because it can be hard to lift the tub while dumping. But once you get it more than half way, the momentum of the weight takes over.
The only thing I wish was a little better was the backing up ability when full. You have to plan ahead because the handle pivot point tends to move down rather than back. But I think it may also be due to the fact that the cart was loaded down when this happens. Otherwise, it goes backward great.
